Safety and security

Traditionally, checked baggage, is placed in luggage containers or Unit Load Devices (ULD), that are loaded in cargo holds of wide-body aircraft. However, these containers meet minimum strength requirements and offer little protection against explosive forces of a terrorist bomb. Therefore GTM is constantly improving materials e.g. improving the Hardened Unit Loading Devices (HULD) with good characteristics, with respect to blast resistance and weight. In addition cost effective production techniques are part of improving materials. GTM is working closely with material suppliers, in order to improve the raw material for future safety and security (industrial) applications.
